Adobe Fresco is an app that allows you to draw and paint using a digital pen, more lifelike than in Photoshop. Fresco can realistically mimic all known drawing and painting materials in pixels, such as pencil, watercolor, and oil paint. It can also draw vector shapes using the same techniques as Adobe Illustrator. Therefore, your vector layers are seamlessly compatible with Adobe Illustrator. Essentially, you can create complex Adobe Illustrator illustrations with Fresco without knowing anything about Illustrator.
On the left, you see a vector illustration that could potentially be further edited and colored in Adobe Illustrator. On the right, you see an illustration that I created using oil paint and other 'live brushes,' which can easily be sent to Photoshop if you want to perform additional edits there.
This app is especially suitable for the Apple iPad with Apple Pencil, but it can also be used on a Windows computer with a Wacom pen and tablet. However, we recommend the iPad.
The Adobe Fresco app is completely free! Forever and fully featured. Why? Fresco is a bit like Photoshop and Illustrator combined (but with special features that neither Illustrator nor Photoshop have). Adobe sees Fresco as the ideal introductory app to get acquainted with Adobe products and the Creative Cloud.
Fresco automatically saves its documents in the Adobe Creative Cloud. With the free version, you have 5000 MB or 5 Gigabytes of free cloud storage at your disposal. You can manage with that for quite some time, but eventually, it will fill up. You can delete old files, but I advise against that. And if you reach the 5 Gigabyte limit, I think you are so enthusiastic about your work that you can also make money with it, and then you can afford a small subscription as well.
You can create a free Adobe ID at www.adobe.com and then immediately download and use the Fresco app.
No way! Adobe Fresco is the best app on the market in this field. The most well-known alternative is Procreate. However, Procreate does not have live brushes, no vector brushes, and is more complicated to use. Procreate does not work with Adobe products and has limited animation capabilities. Procreate is mainly very well-known but does not come close to the possibilities that Fresco offers. And Fresco is also easier to learn and... free!
This course is for anyone who wants to draw and paint digitally, create graphic designs but in a somewhat freer way than with Adobe Illustrator. The course is not only for fashion but for all professions. You don't need to know how to draw. Very often, you place a photo of something and trace it. Or you convert a photo to pixels and start painting over it, that's also possible. There are so many possibilities that it's mainly about learning the existing techniques of Fresco, and then you can create the most beautiful illustrations for any creative profession, both in pixels and vectors! You don't need any Adobe experience to take this course. A little computer knowledge will help.
Create a sketch in Fresco (tracing a photo) for a logo (part of the logo is shown below). Such vector sketches are difficult to create in Illustrator, while finishing the complete logo is more logically done in Illustrator. But with a bit of skill, you should be able to create the entire (vector) logo in Fresco.
After the course, you will master the basic principles of all Fresco brush techniques. By using masking techniques, you can work in layers and give your illustrations an extra dimension. You will learn how to apply layer blending techniques to achieve surprising results. Optionally, you can use sample illustrations to create your own illustrations. Being able to draw yourself is an advantage but not even necessary. With a bit of creativity, you can get so much out of all the Fresco techniques that you almost always end up with a beautiful illustration. You can even create vector logos and illustrations with Fresco that are professional to use. People will love your work. You know what else is cool? You can enter metadata in Fresco that proves your illustration was not made with artificial intelligence but entirely by hand.

Adobe Fresco is een app waarmee je met gebruik van een digitale pen kan tekenen en schilderen, levensechter dan in Photoshop. Fresco kan alle bekende teken en schilder materialen levensecht in pixels nabootsen. Zoals potlood, waterverf, olieverf. Maar het kan ook vector vormen tekenen die precies dezelfde techniek hanteren als Adobe Illustrator. Je vector lagen zijn daarom ook naadloos compatible met Adobe Illustrator. Eigenlijk kan je met Fresco complexe Adobe Illustrator illustraties maken zonder ook maar iets van Illustrator af te weten.
Links zie je een vector illustratie die eventueel in Adobe Illustrator verder bewerkt en ingekleurd zou kunnen worden. Rechts zie je een illustratie die ik met olieverf en andere 'live penselen' heb gemaakt en die is weer gemakkelijk naar Photoshop te sturen, mocht je daar nog bepaalde bewerkingen in willen uitvoeren.

Fresco slaat haar documenten automatisch op in de Adobe Creative Cloud. Bij de gratis versie heb je gratis 5000 mb of 5 Gigabite cloud opslag tot je beschikking. Je kan daar best een tijd mee vooruit maar uiteindelijk raakt dat een keer vol. Dan kan je oude bestanden verwijderen. Maar ik adviseer dat niet te doen. En als je de 5 gigabite haalt, dan denk ik dat je zo enthousiast aan het werk bent dat er ook geld mee te verdienen valt en dan kan je een klein abonnementje ook wel aan.

Vergeet het maar! Adobe Fresco is dé beste app in de markt op dit gebied. De bekendste tegenhanger is de bekende Procreate. Echter, Procreate heeft géén live penselen, géén vector penselen en werkt ook ingewikkelder. Procreate werkt niet samen met Adobe producten en is beperkt in animatie. Procreate is vooral heel bekend, maar komt niet in de buurt van de mogelijkheden die Fresco biedt. En dan is Fresco ook nog eens makkelijker te leren en....gratis!
Deze cursus is voor iedereen die digitaal wilt tekenen en schilderen, grafische ontwerpen wilt maken maar dan op een wat vrijere manier dan met Adobe Illustrator. De cursus is niet alleen voor mode maar voor alle beroepen. Je hoeft niet te kunnen tekenen. Heel vaak plaats je een foto van iets en ga je dat overtrekken. Of je zet een foto om naar pixels en gaat daar overheen poetsen, dat kan ook. Er is enorm veel mogelijk dat het er vooral om gaat dat je de bestaande technieken van Fresco leert en daarna kan je voor elk creatief beroep de mooiste illustraties maken, zowel in pixels als in vector! Je hebt geen enkele Adobe ervaring nodig om deze cursus te doen. Een beetje computer kennis zal wel helpen.
Maak een schets in Fresco (foto overtrekken) voor een logo (onderdeel van het logo zie hier onder). Dergelijke vector schetsen zijn in Illustrator heel moeilijk te maken, terwijl het afmaken van het complete logo weer logischer is om in Illustrator te doen. Maar met een beetje handigheid zou je het gehele (vector) logo in Fresco moeten kunnen maken.
Na de cursus beheers je de basisprincipes van alle Fresco penseeltechnieken. Door gebruik te maken van masker technieken kan je gelaagd werken en krijgen je illustraties een extra dimensie. Je leert hoe je laag overvloei technieken toe kan passen om tot verrassende resultaten te komen. Je kan eventueel met behulp van voorbeeld illustraties eigen illustraties maken. Zelf echt kunnen tekenen is in je voordeel maar zou niet eens hoeven. Met een beetje creativiteit kan je zó veel uit alle Fresco technieken halen dat je bijna altijd een mooie illustratie krijgt. Je kan zelfs vector logo's en illustraties maken met Fresco die professioneel in te zetten zijn. Mensen zullen smullen van jouw werk. Weet je wat ook cool is? Je kan in Fresco metadata invoeren dat bewijst dat je illustratie niet met kunstmatige intelligentie is gemaakt maar helemaal met de hand.

De cursus duurt veertien lesuren verdeeld over twee lesdagen met een week om te oefenen er tussen. De cursus start om 09.30 uur en stopt om 16.30 uur. De eerste lesdag gaan wij door alle features heen waardoor we in lesdag twee helemaal los kunnen gaan in het maken van illustraties naar wens.
